If there’s one single thing that’s attractive about Florida (besides the water and weather), it would have to be the events. All up and down the coast, there’s something to do year-round, adding to the intrigue and reason why making the move to South Florida continues to be a huge draw. If you’ve relocated, love books and are looking for something to do in the middle of November, you can’t miss the Miami International Book Fair.
One of the premier entertainment venues of the year, the Miami International Book Fair has something for everyone, making it a hot ticket item for book lovers and literary enthusiasts around the world. This year, the eight-day festival takes place November 17-24th, with the street fair November 20-22nd.
Well, it’s been around since 1984. That’s over 35 years! Imagine an eight-day party about reading, writing and the love of books hosting readings and discussions to authors from all walk of life. It’s a place where the family, book clubs and “bookies” can come together for theater, arts-and-crafts, storytelling and a section just for kids and teens.
Comic book lover? There’s a space for that. Cooking? You get to taste wonderful food from cooking demonstrations and meet the author of the cookbook! If you’ve ever wanted to meet certain authors in person, there’s a chance they'll be there. It's a great way to have new and seasoned authors together sharing and learning from each other while interacting with general public. All week, you’ll be able to join the readings and discussions taking place in the Evenings With … series and more. If you’ve never seen a real manuscript or first edition of a book, now’s your chance. It’s truly a celebration of literature, food and fun.
While the Book Fair was designed to cater to those who love books, it’s really grown into a festival that welcomes everyone. There’s music, dancing and so much more to enjoy while being surrounded with the love of learning.
Well … it’s free! Where else can you get access to thousands of authors in one place to explore your love of writing? Since its downtown, after you’re done at the festival you’ll be able to enjoy all the sights and sounds. From exclusive restaurants to local venues that explore the culture, you won’t have a minute to get bored. It’s close enough to Bayside where you can walk over and shop a little or take in the breathtaking experience of Biscayne Bay, day or night.
After a long day, you’ll be able to relax at home or in one of the hotels adjacent to the water. Imagine beautiful weather in the middle of November. Who can compete with that? Experience all of that and more with the Miami International Book Fair. It’s one of Florida’s finest gems you won’t regret.
